Shooting Guard Series: Part 1

  Shooting Guard Fundamentals

Being a great shooting or "scoring" guard really comes down to 3 things:

  1. Can you fit your scoring style with the team & system you're in
  2. Can you be a consistent & dangerous scorer for your team and possibly carry the responsibility of making baskets for your team
  3. Can you guard the other team's top scorer and hold them below their average
Along with a whole host of other responsibilities that differ from team to team. But this post is focused on the scoring part of your game. For easier organization we'll describe scoring styles like this: Ball Handler's & Off the Ball.

What's the Deal with the Poll Questions???

You may have noticed THE NEW POLL I ADDED TO THE BLOG!.. (over there) --> but I'm trying something new by posting a poll question twice a month on different topics basketball and beyond. And after getting your answers I'll make a post defending the majority pick as a winner!

This will be fun for everyone to hear different perspectives of how people see basketball. I also don't mind continuing conversations on these "Wrap Up" posts.. or ANY posts. So hope you enjoy this blog, I have a lot of great posts on the way

The 10 Points You Never Notice in Basketball & How To Score Them

Gerald Wallace (center) doesn't have great offensive skill but always out hustles his opponent

10 MORE POINTS!... if you could add 10 points to your average what would that do for your stat line? From  5 pts to 15, 10 pts to 20, or maybe you go from offensively invisible to finding ways to get your name in the box score (or the newspaper!).

The best thing about these 10 "hidden" points is that it WILL NOT require thousands of hours mastering a special move. Instead you just have to make a commitment to play smart & aggressive basketball every game. So ANYBODY can do it!!
